[Today the network is greeted with a series of pictures.

One has a kid crying over a lost Pokémon.
One has an old lady telling the Jennies about a recent burglary she suffered.
One has a mildly injured young man who's cursing everything.
One has a pile of Pokéballs with a red R and a cat mask next to them.

The pictures come with a simple audio post. While Ikuto doesn't want to get caught by anyone, he wants to deliver a message to people that do know. Message being "You shouldn't get too close to me or else" - especially to one Amu Hinamori, but everyone else too.]

I'm getting hang of this game I've been assigned to.

I mean, a guy's gotta learn this kind of thing somewhere, right. [Or at least pretend he needs to learn it.] I could use a few lessons.

If you're really up to it, I wouldn't mind teaching you a thing or two.

[It would be a way to kill time, after all, so it's not actually even a joke.]

[The sardonic smile Niou's wearing probably comes across loud and clear through his voice even if Ikuto can't see it.]

You're not around Goldenrod, huh? So is this gonna be a correspondence course?

I'm sure.

[Ikuto's voice is quite nonchalant. Kids these days.]

Right now, no. Usually, yes. It's your call how you want to proceed.

If you're in town, gimme a call. I don't mind doing the whole pen pal thing otherwise. I can keep myself busy so it's not like I'm gonna need minding.

[Yeah, that's a laugh there. He won't have any trouble finding things to occupy his time with.]

The bosses've got plenty for me to do, after all. [And hey, if he lets a little resentment seep into his tone there, it's only so he can gauge just how committed this guy is to the whole Rocket cause.]

I'll do that, then. [Which most likely means he'll contact him in a few days. Whenever he's not too lazy or uncaring.]

They really have plenty of things to do, even though they never show their faces to us.

Makes a guy feel real valued by the cause and all, huh?

It really does.

But hey, looks like they give you a longer leash eventually, right? So I've got something to look forward to.

[More like breaking free from his leash entirely and causing trouble for the Rockets, but hey, it could mean the same thing. Kind of.]

Yeah, that's right. It's mostly just the first two weeks of training and then you're basically free to do anything you want.

Anything, really? They don't keep tabs to make sure we're all behaving like good little Rockets should?

Well, you do need to either take on missions OR steal Pokémon regularly... but otherwise you can basically be saving the world and they don't really care.

Wow, that seems like kind of a big oversight for the grand high poobahs of evil to be making. Guess stuff just slips through the cracks when they've got an operation as big as it is, huh?

Pretty much.

Though I don't have too many complaints. I don't like being on a leash, after all.

Well, yeah. A leash is kinda there to be bitten, right? I'm not sure I like having even a loose leash at all, though.

I don't, but it's better than having one that might suffocate.

I guess. Makes me wonder how easy it is to slip our leash, though.

I've heard it's pretty hard, though that's just what the organization wants us to believe... since I've heard NPC's cursing that some people have escaped this place. There was also a hunt for one traitor going on a few months back.

Man, someone actually turned traitor? [And was stupid enough to get caught, he means.] What happened with that?

There was a big commotion and the guy was chased all over Johto... but he was never caught. Either the grunts here suck or he's one hell of a lucky guy.

Maybe both, but I'd bet on the grunts sucking.

[After all, if it came down to it, Niou himself would probably hold the door open for the guy and pretend he hadn't seen a thing.]

Do you know his name or anything?

That's more likely, since all the NPC's in this world seem to suck.

[Except maybe the nurses.]

Jinguji or something, if I remember right. Never really met him.
